About Bulldogs

Temperament

Friendly, Happy, Calm

Height

14-15 inches

Weight

50 pounds (Male), 40 pounds (Female)

Life Expectancy:

8-10 years

Nutrition

Any high quality dog food will work, but make sure to cater to the dogs likes and needs to keep it healthy.

Trainability

Easily trainable as they seek people's approval and enjoy getting rewarded with food for completing a certain task. Make sure to teach them to drop things on command as they like having stuff in their mouths.

Exercise

Requires a moderate amount of exercise. However this exercise is not high intensity as it can be as simple as walking. However, make sure that the dog is not out in heat or in high water as their short snout makes it very hard for them to breath. If it's hot allow the dog to stay where it is air conditioned.

Grooming

Will need to groom everywhere for about 2-3 times a week. Areas to focus on are the ears, wrinkles of the face, nails, and the tail.

Health

Make sure to give them plenty of water and make sure they do not stay out in the sun. They tend to overheat more easily than other dogs and they may develop a blue tounge. In this case, soak the dog with cold water (Not in a tub).

Traits

Bulldogs are typically pretty heavy for their size. However, this is because they have sturdy limbs, wide shoulders and a large head. They have very loose skin, a pushed in nose, small ears, and a large jaw. Nobody will be mistaking this breed with anything else. This breed is very kind and friendly. Yet, they can also be protective as they are strong. They won't be running after anybody though. Bulldogs are also very courageous. It's not hard to see why Mack Trucks chose this breed as their logo. Their fur can be any color under the sun and comes in all sorts of different patterns and shapes. They typicaly love to be played with but also love to lay next to it's owner. They love to chew on toys so get them something they can chew on when they are younger. This way they don't end up chewing thing you don't want them to.
